Well at Sweat Shop Hot Yoga we make your first visit as easy as 1, 2, 3! We will outline three simple steps below to help you get started with a successful start for your first yoga class. All levels are welcome. And we’re here to help you every step of the way through your yoga journey. We can’t wait to meet you! Okay so we now know that joining or taking your first Oconomowoc yoga is easy as one, two, three and we meant it. We will outline the three steps below to help you get started with your first yoga class at Sweatshop Hot Yoga Studio. Step one is to pick the class that works for your schedule there’s no need to sweat just yet because all of our classes are designed to be beginner friendly and help you build strength and help you feel energized. You can take a look at our classes page to learn more about the different styles of classes. Stop two is that you should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your class and make sure to bring your water bottle, yoga mat and towel. If you don’t have a mat or towel you can rent them from the studio or if you sign up for the 10 days of yoga for $10 promotion your yoga mat and towel rental will be on the house for the full 10 days of the hot yoga promotion. Step three is to sweat. Breathe. And have some fun! That’s it!
Now that we’ve covered the basics of how to get started with your first Oconomowoc yoga class, let’s talk about what you can expect your first time when you visit Sweat Shop Hot Yoga Studio in Oconomowoc, WI. Again first and foremost congratulations on taking your first hot yoga class at Sweat Shop Hot Yoga. A few things to know prior to arriving is to bring a plastic or metal water bottle, yoga mat and towel (a bath or beach towel that is large enough to cover your mat will work best). No mat or towel? No problem, we have them available at our Oconomowoc yoga studio for rent. If it’s your first time here, they’re on the house. Prior to class please refrain from applying any scents or perfumes so that we can make sure to not bother those who are near to you during practice. And last but not least, make sure you hydrate! Make sure to drink plenty of water both before and after class. Alright, now that you’re at Sweat Shop Hot Yoga, make sure that when you arrive you leave your shoes by the front door when you walk in to avoid tracking dirt throughout the studio. Most people will leave their shoes at the door and continue to walk through the studio in their socks. After you take your shoes off you can check in at the front desk with one of our friendly and smiling staff members. The teacher will greet you and you can notify them of any injuries or medical conditions that you have, this will help us and provide appropriate directions to you throughout the class as well as with giving appropriate modifications during the class so that you do not aggravate any existing injuries. Now that you’re all checked in you can head into the locker room to change your clothes, use the restroom or do anything else that you would like to before heading into the studio room. Our luxurious locker rooms are equipped with cubbies for your personal items and showers if you would like to shower after hot yoga class. Make sure that you turn off your cell phone or silence it when you enter the studio and please also silence watches or any other electronic devices so that you do not disturb but your fellow yogis. Next, bring your mat, towel and water bottle with you and head on into the studio room! Once you are inside of the Oconomowoc yoga studio room find a spot where you can see yourself in the front and side mirrors but are not blocking another person’s view. Place your mat in the same direction as others and lay your long towel down over your mat. This will help absorb your sweat and keep your mat from becoming too slippery. Also in the yoga studio room make sure that you speak softly within the studio to avoid distraction to others. Please also remember to be quiet until you leave the studio or room after class. Once the class begins the teacher will teach, guide or cue the class through a series of poses and movements. Teachers often times also provide physical demonstration of the poses as a guide to show students proper form of the postures. While the class may be challenging, yoga should never hurt. This means that it’s incredibly important to listen to your body and move at your own pace. Also if you need to rest feel free to sit or lay down in child’s pose and join back in when you are feeling good. Please try not to leave or re-enter the room during class so as to not distract others and to avoid negatively impacting the temperature and heat in the room. Also it is very normal, and encouraged, for new students to spend their first few classes laying down and taking a break. Again you can do this in a comfortable seated position, laying down on your back in corpse pose, or laying in child’s pose. With time as with all things, your body will adjust to the heat and movement. You will see the most benefit when you stick with it. So what happens after class? Well… congratulations, you did it! You made it through your very first Oconomowoc yoga and Sweat Shop hot yoga class! Now that you’ve completed your first class you’re probably enjoying the feeling of rejuvenation, relaxation and strength that almost always follows a hot yoga class. As we mentioned before, make sure to hydrate and drink plenty of water afterwards or an electrolyte or sports drink works incredibly well for this. Last but at least, make sure to stick with it! Your body will adjust to the heat and movements within a few classes. With our 10 days of yoga for $10 deal we are excited to see you again for your next class and can’t wait to move forward with you throughout your Oconomowoc yoga journey.
